A lightweight bout between promotional newcomers Bernardo Magalhaes and Yoislandy Izquierdo has been added to the fight card of UFC on Fuel TV 1, according to reports from Sherdog.com. Magalhaes initially announced the news on his Facebook page.
"Very happy to get my first UFC contract!" he stated. "The fight will be on 15th February. All [that] I need is a hard training, focus and let go. Can't wait."
The reigning lightweight champion of Australia's Cage Fighting Championship, Magalhaes (11-1) enters the Octagon after storming through a five-fight win streak to claim his belt. A submission specialist and product of TP Fight Team, "Trekko" last fought in June, earning a unanimous decision victory over Robert Lisita after 25 minutes of action.
Across the cage, the undefeated Izquierdo (6-0) joins the UFC just two years into his professional career. A 28-year-old striker, "Cuba" is a training partner of UFC veteran Alex Caceres at Miami's Young Tigers camp and recently emerged as the victor of Championship Fighting Alliance's lightweight tournament with a three-minute knockout of Patrick Cenoble.
