Two injured UFC 142 competitors have been tapped for the UFC's debut in Sweden.
According to reports from mmanytt.se, a welterweight bout between Paulo Thiago and Siyar Bahadurzada is the latest addition to UFC on Fuel TV 2. Promotion officials have yet to confirm the match-up.
Thiago was originally slated to fight Mike Pyle at UFC 142, while Bahadurzada was scheduled to debut against Erick Silva. Though both fighters ultimately withdrew from the card due to injuries.
The 30-year-old Thiago (14-3), a member of Brazil's elite BOPE special forces team, recently rediscovered the win column with a unanimous decision victory over David Mitchell at UFC 134. The dominating performance snapped a two-fight losing streak after failed shots at Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
Across the cage, former Shooto champion Bahadurzada (20-4-1) storms into the Octagon on a six-fight win streak capped by a recent run through Ultimate Glory's welterweight tournament. The 27-year-old carries notable victories over John Alessio, Derrick Noble and Evangelista Santos.
The UFC's debut trip to Sweden, UFC on Fuel TV 2, is scheduled for April 14th, 2012 at Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Arena. A main event has yet to be announced.
