Two preliminary bouts with a local flavor have been added to the quickly-filling fight card of UFC on Fuel TV 2.
Unbeaten Swedish prospect Besam Yousef and Norwegian veteran Simeon Thoresen will make their UFC debuts in a welterweight duel on the night's undercard. Likewise, undefeated Swedish Muay Thai champion Jorgen Kruth will kick off his UFC career against French kickboxer Cyrille Diabate.
Promotion officials confirmed the signings and match-ups on Thursday.
A former Zone FC champion out of Sweden's Gladius MMA, Yousef (6-0) enters the UFC with five quick finishes in his six professional victories. He'll take on Thoresen (16-2-1), a 27-year-old former UWC champion on a two-fight win streak.
Meanwhile, Kruth (5-0), a 37-year-old striker with a 71-14 pro kickboxing record, carries the momentum of five consecutive first round finishes into his Octagon debut. Across the cage, the 38-year-old Diabate (17-8-1) hopes to rediscover a sense of consistency after alternating wins over Luiz Cane and Steve Cantwell with losses to Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Perosh.
The UFC's debut trip to Sweden, UFC on Fuel TV 2, is scheduled for April 14th, 2012 at Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Arena. A main event has yet to be announced.
