Undefeated featherweight prospect Max Holloway has signed with the UFC and agreed to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 143, according to reports from MMA Weekly. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Holloway is Poirier's third scheduled opponent after a rash of injuries forced Erik Koch and Ricardo Lamas to withdraw from the card.
At just 20 years of age, Holloway (4-0) enters the Octagon having won all four of his professional fights, including a victory over Strikeforce veteran Harris Sarmiento. A striker aligned with Suckerpunch Entertainment, "Lil Evil" last competed in July, where he edged Eddie Rincon in a three-round decision.
Meanwhile, Poirier (11-1) makes a quick turnaround after submitting Pablo Garza via D'Arce choke at the UFC on Fox undercard. The 22-year-old now claims an impressive 3-0 UFC record, including decision victories over Josh Grispi and Jason Young.
UFC 143 is slated for Super Bowl weekend, February 4th, at the Mandalay Bay Events Centers in Las Vegas, Nevada. An interim welterweight title bout between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit is the night's main event.
