A light heavyweight contest between Australian submission ace Anthony Perosh and UFC newcomer Nick Penner has been scheduled for the fight card of UFC on FX 2. Promotion officials confirmed the match-up on Tuesday night.
After three unsuccessful shots as a UFC heavyweight, the 39-year-old Perosh (12-6) finally appears to have found his niche in the 205-pound division. "The Hippo" has won two straight bouts since dropping down in weight, defeating both Cyrille Diabate and Tom Blackledge via rear-naked choke last year. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, nine of Perosh's twelve victories have now come by way of submission.
Penner (11-1), meanwhile, storms into the Octagon on an eight-fight win streak, capped by a unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Tim Chemelli in September. A known finisher, the 31-year-old has earned stoppages in nine of his eleven wins, with six arriving in the first round.
