Friday night's UFC on FX 1: Guillard vs. Miller event drew an audience of 7,228 to Nashville, Tennessee's Bridgestone Arena, capturing live gate of $334,860, according to reports from MMA Weekly.
Those numbers pale in comparison to the UFC's previous trip to the Bridgestone Arena, UFC Fight Night 18, which took place in April 2009. Led by a main event featuring Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann, the show drew 10,267 spectators for a live gate of $626,077.
Fans in attendance on Friday night witnessed a drama-filled card highlighted by eight finishes, six of which arrived in the first round. In the night's main event Jim Miller survived an early blitz to submit Melvin Guillard at 2:04 of the opening frame with a rear-naked choke.
"Melvin, tonight he hit me harder than anybody has hit me," Miller hazily said afterward. "My head hurts a little bit. It doesn't happen often that I get knocked down, but Melvin is an animal. I knew he was capable of that. Luckily, I went on autopilot. I don't really remember what happened after he knocked me down until I basically had his back."
