Tonight's UFC on FX at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee event opened with five preliminary fights that were aired on Fuel TV: Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer, Khabibi Nurmagomedov vs. Kamal Shalorus, Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts, Fabricio Camoes vs. Tommy Hayden, Daniel Pineda vs. Pat Shilling and Nick Denis vs. Joseph Sandoval. Results follow.

Jorge Rivera Beats Eric Schafer Before Retiring
Rivera (19-9, 8-7 UFC), a 39-year-old veteran, announced before the bout that it would be his final fight. He went out with a win after surviving an early assualt from Schafer (12-7-2, 3-6 UFC). Schafer came out early and put Rivera on his back, peppering him with punches from the top. But Schafer wasn't able to do much with his advantage and when Rivera got on top it was over quickly.

UFC on FX results: Jorge Rivera defeats Eric Schafer by TKO (referee stoppage) at 1:31 of round 2.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Impresses Against Kamal Shalorus
Russian Nurmagomedov (17-0, 1-0 UFC) dropped Shalorus (7-2-2, 0-2 UFC) in the first round with a short uppercut and tried hard to get the finish, firing bombs from the top, but the Iranian survived the round. In the 2nd, Nurmagomedov got a couple of take downs to dominate the round. The 3rd was more of the same with Nurmagomedov beating up Shalorus standing and on the ground until the Russian secured a choke from mount to get the finish.

Charlie Brenneman Dominates Daniel Roberts

In a welterweight bout between two fighters coming off of losses, Brenneman (15-3, 4-2 UFC) used his wrestling advantage to take Roberts (12-4, 3-4 UFC) down over and over again. In the first two rounds he briefly had both Roberts' arms trapped in the crucifix position while he rained down blows, but Roberts escaped both times. Roberts mounted some offense late in the second and third rounds, threatening to submit Brenneman a couple of times but it wasn't enough. Look for Roberts to be cut from the UFC roster after three straight losses.

UFC on FX Results: Charlie Brenneman defeats Daniel Roberts by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Fabricio Camoes Comes Back To Beat Tommy Hayden
Initially it looked like Hayden (8-1, 0-1 UFC), a Mid-Western lightweight making his UFC debut, had a bit of an edge over Camoes (14-6-1, 1-1-1 UFC) on the feet. Then he took Camoes down and attacked from within the Brazilian's guard. But Camoes used an omaplata shoulder lock to sweep Hayden to his back. From there he bombed on Hayden with punches and quickly applied the rear naked choke for the win. Camoes was cut following an initial 0-1-1 UFC run in 2009-2010.

UFC on FX results: Fabricio Camoes defeats Tom Hayden by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:03 of round 1.

Daniel Pineda Puts An MMA Demo On Pat Schilling
Featherweight veteran Pineda (16-7, 1-0 UFC) made it look easy against Schilling (5-1, 0-1 UFC), another UFC debutant. Pineda followed the original MMA textbook strategy by beating up Schilling on the feet then taking him down with a double leg take down followed quickly by taking Schilling's back and promptly choking him out.

UFC on FX results: Daniel Pineda defeats Pat Schilling by submission (rear naked choke ) at 1:37 of round 1.

Nick Denis Smushes Joseph Sandoval With Brutal Standing Elbows
Canadian bantamweight Denis (11-2, 1-0 UFC) made short work of Sandoval (6-2, 0-2 UFC) with a vicious series of standing elbows to the head. A great UFC debut for Denis who got invited to the big show after a dramatic slam KO win over Nick Mamalis last October. Sandoval will likely get his walking papers after two unimpressive losses in the Octagon.

UFC on FX results: Nick Denis defeated Josesph Sandoval by TKO (referee stoppage) at :22 of round 1.
