UFC 142 Fight Card Breakdown: Edson Barboza Vs. Terry Etim

A comprehensive preview of every aspect of UFC 142's Edson Barboza vs. Terry Etim lightweight bout. Nate Wilcox analyzes the match-up and makes his prediction.

Lightweights Edson Barboza (9-0, 3-0 UFC) and Terry Etim (15-3, 6-3 UFC) meet on the pay-per-view portion of UFC 142 tonight at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is a highly anticipated match between two young fighters who are on the verge of contention.

Barboza, a veteran Muay Thai kickboxer with over 25 pro kickboxing bouts, has won Fight of the Night awards in his last two outings. He's an exciting fighter with a crowd pleasing style heavy on the spinning attacks and painful leg kicks.

Etim, a rangy Liverpudlian who's won 5 of his last 6 fights, will be looking to force the fight to the ground where his grappling skills can make a difference. He's got 12 submission wins and a truly nasty guillotine choke that might be his best chance to beat Barboza.

Personally as much as I regard Etim as a real talent, I think he'll have a hard time forcing the fight to the ground and Barboza's striking will just be too much for him on the feet.
