On a day of non-stop fight announcements, the UFC has added two more to the pile. Welterweight matchups Rory MacDonald (12-1) vs. Brian Ebersole (48-14-1) and Rich Attonito (10-4) vs. Claude Patrick (14-1) have been targeted for UFC 140 in Toronto. UFC officials confirmed the bouts Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Quesnel, British Columbia, MacDonald has twice fought within his home country during a two-year run in the UFC, collecting a 1-1 record in those contests. Overall, the fast-rising 22-year-old has quickly begun to emerge as a viable contender in the promotion's welterweight division, and will head into the bout on a two fight win streak after dispatching Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle.
He faces Ebersole, a twelve-year veteran who got his first shot in the UFC this year. The 30-year-old journeyman seems to have finally found a home after a thrilling first two fights in the promotion, defeating Chris Lytle and Dennis Hallman to push his current win streak to nine.
A veteran of "The Ultimate Fighter 11," Attonito has racked up a 3-1 record in the UFC, collecting victories over Jamie Yager, Rafael Natal, and Daniel Roberts. Known as "The Raging Bull," the 34-year-old fought at middleweight for much of his career until making his debut at 175 pounds in June.
He will match-up against Patrick, a native Canadian known as "The Prince." The 31-year-old is a former TFC Canadian MMA Welterweight champion and has quietly put together a three-fight win streak inside the Octagon, claiming wins over Ricardo Funch, James Wilks, and Daniel Roberts.
UFC 140 is slated for December 10th at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. No headlining bout has been announced thus far.
