A UFC 138 bout that was once Mark Scanlon vs. James Head has been scrapped due to injuries to both fighters. Announced Wednesday, the UFC has tabbed a replacement contest between Justin Edwards (7-1) and John Maguire (16-3) to fill the vacant spot.
Edwards first hit the limelight with his role in the thirteenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," making his official UFC debut at the show's finale with a narrow split decision loss to Clay Harvison. The setback was the first blemish of an otherwise undefeated professional record, and the 28-year-old submission specialist immediately rebounded with a decision win over Jorge Lopez at UFC Fight Night 25.
Meanwhile, Maguire readies for his Octagon debut after signing a four-fight deal with the UFC late last week. Nicknamed "The One," the 28-year-old is the Cage Rage UK and OMMAC welterweight champion and enters the bout riding a five-fight win streak.
UFC 138 is slated for November 5th at Birmingham, England's LG Arena. A middleweight contest between Chris "The Crippler" Leben and Mark Munoz headlines the event.
