The sixth fight of the night, and first of the UFC 135 pay-per-view is a lightweight contest, Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi. Diaz (13-7) aims to rebound from a two-fight losing streak after dropping decisions to Dong Hyun Kim and Rory MacDonald earlier this year. Likewise, Gomi (32-7) hopes to bounce-back from a one-sided submission loss to Clay Guida at January's UFC 125. The referee is charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki.

ROUND 1 - Diaz circles Gomi as the pay-per-view opens. Diaz lands a straight left hand that briefly drops Gomi. "The Fireball Kid" recovers and answers with a winging wild right. Diaz presses forward and connects with a stiff right hook. Gomi eats another pair of jabs before leaping in with a left. Diaz bounces on his toes and paws the jab out. The "TUF 5" winner presses forward with his hands at this waist before dropping Gomi with a hard combination. Diaz takes his back before the Japanese veteran can scramble and stand. Gomi throws his opponent to the ground, but Diaz starts to work for an armbar from the bottom. Gomi fights it off and Diaz transitions to a triangle. It's in deep. Gomi tries to slam the submission off but Diaz sweeps beautifully to an armbar and locks it in. Gomi taps.
