UFC President Dana White fielded questions from the assembled Colorado and national MMA media after the UFC 135 pre-fight press conference. MMA Nation's Luke Thomas was there with a video camera to capture Dana's every answer.
He discussed last weekend's controversial Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz boxing match. White's been consistent in his defense of Mayweather's "cheap shot" KO of Ortiz and nothing changes here. He is also critical of HBO announcer Larry Merchant, whom Mayweather went off on after the fight.
White talks about Zuffa's Strikeforce promotion, saying it's up to Showtime to determine the future of the promotion. Zuffa bought Strikeforce in March and promised to run it with a "business as usual" approach, but the reality is that Strikeforce champs Alistair Overeem, Dan Henderson and Nick Diaz have all since jumped to the UFC and the Showtime relationship does not seem to be a priority for Zuffa.
White also talks about UFC 139's Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le which he announced earlier today and Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua being a title fight.
