UFC 141: Alistair Overeem Leaves Golden Glory Training Camp And Management Team

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem announced via Twitter today that he is parting ways with his long-time management team and training camp Golden Glory. Overeem signed with the UFC and will face Brock Lesnar in the headlining fight of UFC 141 on December 30 in Las Vegas. 

Here's what Overeem posted via Twitter:

I would like to make a statement regarding the recent news of the separation from my long-time management Golden Glory. As with any relationship, there are good times and bad times - you have your common ground and your differences. As with any relationship, you have trust. When differences lead to a breach of trust, there's no turning back and no way to continue a positive, working relationship. I don't air my dirty laundry. I would appreciate the respect regarding my privacy to not disclose any further details on this matter.

Again, I would like to thank team Golden Glory for all the years we worked together and wish them success for the future.

Overeem is also the reigning K-1 kickboxing champion and alleges that he still hasn't been paid for winning last year's K-1 Grand Prix. 

Alistair Overeem Signs With UFC

Overeem was cut from Strikeforce in an ugly dispute with Zuffa, the parent company of both UFC and Strikeforce, that led to Zuffa cutting four other Golden Glory fighters out of frustration for the way the gym does business.
