Welterweights Jake Shields (26-5-1, 1-1 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (24-5, 4-1 UFC) headline UFC Fight Night 25
Shields, a top 10 welterweight for most of the past decade and former middleweight champion of Strikeforce, is off to a slow start in the UFC. He barely squeaked past Martin Kampmann in his debut then lost to champion Georges St. Pierre in a lackluster, but one-sided, performance.
Ellenberger has really thrived in the UFC. A young fighter who had to fight for several years before getting his big break, Ellenberger is definitely in title contention and a win over Shields could put him in the cage with GSP in short order.
Round 1: Shields shoots in for a take down. Ellenberger shrugs him off. Ellenberger firing shots. Shields shoots. Ellenberger throws him aside. Shields clinchs. Ellenberger scores with a knee to the body. A knee to the face drops Shields like a bag of cement. Ellenberger follows him down and immediately bombs on Shields. The ref steps in, its all over.
