Mayweather Vs. Ortiz Results Live: Round 1

The HBO pay-per-view bout between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz got underway from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada with Mayweather looking to work the jab and straight right hand. Ortiz re-hydrated after the weigh-ins in a huge way, having a 16 pound weight advantage on the official HBO scales.

Ortiz attempted to get in close and land some power shots, and did eventually get his left hand through. Ortiz would also find his way to the body of Mayweather. Even with those few moments, Mayweather controled the majority of the round with his defense and the straight right hand.

Ortiz did not look out of his depth through one round but he will need to find more openings to do solid work in the next few rounds.
