Strikeforce Results: Mike Kyle Decisions Marcos Rogerio De Lima Over Three Rounds

The final fight of the preliminary card for Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov is Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Mike Kyle. This is a light heavyweight fight, meaning 205 pounds. The referee in charge of the action is Greg Franklin.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters open orthodox. Both fightes appear to be huge for this weight class. Kyle eats a left after missing with a strike of his own. Hard outside kick from Rogerio de Lima. Both fighters missing with single strikes. Kyle lands a jab. Kyle jabs again, but nearly eats a left hook. Kyle seemingly lands a right as Rogerio de Lima reeled, but he seems fine now. Kyle goes back to the job with decent effect.

ROUND 2 - aggressive striking from both to open the round. Kyle going back to the jab, but eats a hard outside leg kick. Outside right leg kick, left hook combo from Rogerio de Lima. Kyle trying to go to the body, but eating leg kicks for his effort. Rogerio de Lima much more active this round landing many more strikes and firing more combinations. Kyle drives the Brazilian into the fence and takes him to the mat with an outside trip. Rogerio de Lima stands, but after eating a low blow the ref did not see, Kyle takes Rogerio de Lima to the mat again.

ROUND 3 - Left hook from the Brazilian to start the round. Kyle going back to the jab, but with less effect this round. Rogerio de Lima pressing the action this round with punch-kick combinations. The Brazilian again nails the outside right leg kick combo followed by the left hook. Kyle times a perfect double leg in the center of the cage and plants Rogerio de Lima on his back. Kyle lands decent ground and pound on top to close the round.
