Strikeforce Results: Feijao Cavalcante Stops Yoel Romero In The Second With Strikes

The fourth fight of the night at Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov is Yoel Romero vs. Rafael Cavalcante. This is a light heavyweight bout, meaning 205 pounds. The referee in charge of the action is Dan Miragliotta.

ROUND 1 - Feijao stalking early with Romero bouncing around the outside as a southpaw. The crowd already beginning to boo. Feijao attempts a right hand straight, but misses and they resume their strange position. High kick from Feijao barely misses Romero. Hard inside leg kick now from Feijao. Feijao and Romero both miss with single punches. Another head kick from Feijao, but it also misses. Romero has yet to land any strike of consequence. Another hard inside leg kick from Feijao. Referee Miragliotta wanrs Romero for inactivity. Romero half attempts a shot then abandons the effort. Romero tries a takedown as the round expires, but Feijao escapes easily.

ROUND 2 - Outside leg kick from Feijao to start the round. Decent middle kick from Feijao, but Romero returns to the favor except he nails Feijao in the groin. The fight is temporarily halted. The fight resumes. Romero jumps into a clinch and tries to take Feijao to the floor and can't except he's swarming on Feijao now with Feijao's back to the fence. Romero lands a huge double, but Feijao immediately pops back up. Nice middle kick from Feijao and Romero presses Feijao into the fence for a takedown, but Romero himself gets taken down. They resume standing and after trading strikes that miss are back to the center. Head kick from Feijao and follows it with a spinning back fist that lands flush. Romero drops and Feijao pounces. Romero partially recovers, but Feijao lands several more punches that put Romero back down. One final punch from Feijao seals the deal.
