Dustin Green of CSN Washington caught up with top featherweight contender Chad Mendes after his three round unanimous decision win over Rani Yahya on the Spike TV portion of the UFC 133 card. Mendes talks about the win, his game plan against Yahya, UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo and what's next for Mendes.
Mendes could have waited for a title shot against the winner of UFC 136's Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian, but he wanted to stay active, get a paycheck and ward off ring rust. The plan worked as Mendes put a three round beating on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wiz Yahya and looks to be a formidable challenge to whoever comes away from UFC 136 with the featherweight title.
The Team Alpha Male fighter looks set to enjoy a little rest and recuperation following last night's three round win, but he'll need to get back into training soon to prepare for a five round title fight sometime late this year or early in 2012.
