Last night at UFC 133 middleweight Yoshihiro Akiyama tried to replicate the front kick Anderson Silva used to KO Vitor Belfort at UFC 126. Unfortunately for Akiyama it missed and Belfort swarmed him with hard punches for a quick KO. ESPN has the video highlights.
Here's our recap of the action from last night:
ROUND 1 - Both men emerge from their corners, and its immediately clear that Belfort boasts the significant size advantage. The action starts off slow, with Akiyama blocking a high kick. Belfort charges forward with a combination of punches, one of which glances off the top of Akiyama's head. He's hurt! He drops to the canvas and Belfort immediately shifts into kill mode. Belfort now unloading, swinging wildly. Akiyama scrambles to avoid punishment, but Belfort won't stop punching. A few land to the back of his head, Belfort slips in one underneath while Akiyama is face down. He's out! Belfort just finished Akiyama in less than two minutes. He's screaming, "I'm back!" Indeed.
