UFC 133 Results: Rory MacDonald Smashes Mike Pyle In One Round

Young meets old when promising up-and-comer Rory MacDonald meets MMA veteran Mike Pyle in a welterweight fight that will kick-off the UFC 133: "Evans vs. Ortiz 2" pay-per-view (PPV) event. MacDonald is coming off perhaps the biggest win of his career over Nate Diaz, while Pyle has put together a very impressive three-fight win streak. MacDonald is 22 years young and Pyle is 35 years old. UFC 133 results: Rory MacDonald defeats Mike Pyle via technical knockout (strikes) in round one.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters touch gloves. MacDonald opens up with a left jab. Pyle launches a lazy kick, which MacDonald catches and simultaneously throws a straight right that drops him. MacDonald lets him back up and Pyle flies in for the takedown, which he secures. MacDonald tries a guillotine but it isn't there. He scrambles to his feet and the pair end up along the fence. Pyle manages to get him back down, but MacDonald gets to his feet again. He fakes a right and lands a nice left hook that staggers Pyle. MacDonald goes for standing choke, but Pyle spins out. MacDonald gets a takedown, but backs off and kicks Pyle while he's on his back. MacDonald jumps into Pyle's guard, postures up and begins box the ears. Pyle landing a few shots from his back, but MacDonald clocks him with a huge left hook! Pyle is terribly hurt. He rolls to his belly and turtles up. MacDonald starts wailing on Pyle, huge punches to the right temple, as well as short elbows. Pyle is doing nothing but covering up. That's it! The referee has seen enough and stops the fight. Wow.
