ESPN's Josh Gross just tweeted the following:
Marloes Coenen just told me she WANTS Golden Glory to handle payments because of tax purposes. She's paid direct and knows what she makes.
Strikeforce was fine with this arrangement with Golden Glory fighters, but after Zuffa bought the promotion, they imposed their company policy of direct payments to fighters on the gym. Attempted to impose it rather. Coming on the heels of a scheduling dispute with Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, Golden Glory's top fighter, that ended with the champ being cut.
On Tuesday Strikeforce cut Coenen just days after she lost her women's bantamweight title to Miesha Tate at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson. Also cut was Overeem's older brother Valentijn Overeem and UFC fighter Jon Ola Einemo who lost his UFC debut to Dave Herman in a Fight of the Night at UFC 128.
