UFC 134: Rio took place August 27th, 2011 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This was the UFC's second ever event in Brazil and the first in thirteen years. It was headlined by a middleweight title clash between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Yushin Okami. Silva retained his title with a second-round TKO.
Also on the card was a rematch between former UFC light heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin and Mauricio Rua. While Griffin won their first fight in 2007, Rua easily won the rematch with a first-round TKO.
The featured bout on the card was a heavyweight match-up between former PRIDE and Interim UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Brendan Schaub. While it was rumored Nogueira took the fight too early off of several surgeries for the opportunity to fight in his home country of Brazil for the first time, he nevertheless had enough in him to stop the prospect Schaub in the very first round.
The event was a box office success, selling out more than 14,000 seats in 74 minutes.
