The first fight of the night for UFC 134's Spike televised prelims special is a middleweight bout, Rousimar Palhares vs. Dan Miller. Both men are UFC veterans carrying 1-1 records in their last two bouts. The referee is charge of the action is Herb Dean.

ROUND 1 - Palhares opens with a stiff leg kick but Miller catches it and nails him with a straight jab. Both men testing the distance in the center of the cage. Palhares storms in but Miller sweeps the fight to the floor. Palhares grasps for an omaplata from his back but Miller fights it off and stands up. Miller presses forward with his jab. Palhares lands a big shot that stuns Miller, and Palhares shoots in for the takedown. Miller somehow recovers and reverses the takedown, ending up in top position. Palhares twists out and the fight stands back up. Miller lands a one-two combination buts eats a leg kick. Miller jumps in with a wild right hand that Palhares ducks around. Palhares lands a massive head kick that floors Miller. Palhares rushes in and swarms Miller with punches. Palhares suddenly runs off with his arms waving in the air in celebration. He thinks the fight was stopped, but it never was. Palhares jumps on top of the fence with his hands raised in victory but Dean comes over and explains the situation. Bizarre turns of events. The fight resumes and Miller crushes Palhares with a straight right hand that floors the Brazilian. Miller rushes in but Palhares reverses and catches Miller with a stiff shot after the horn.

ROUND 2 - The two open with a furious exchange. Miller says he got poked in the eye but the fight continues. Wild exchanges flying from both fighters. Palhares shoots in and slams Miller to the ground. Palhares hammers down on Miller from top position. Miller suffering some severe ground and pound from the bottom. Miller tries to wrap his legs around Palhares but gets slammed against the mat. The Brazilian crowd is raucous. Palhares rests inside the guard of Miller. Palhares postures up and lands more big shots. Miller is bloodied. Palhares is relentless, pounding Miller with shots from the top with a minute left in the round. Palhares lands another huge left hand and Dean warns Miller that he needs to defend himself. Palhares continues to punish Miller, opening up a deep cut across his face.

ROUND 3 - Palhares looks tired as the round opens. Miller's face is cleaned up for now. Miller presses forward with a pair of jabs. Both men keeping a distance with their jab. The pace has slowed significantly. Palhares ducks under a half-hearted Miller hook. Palhares lands a stiff leg kick but Miller presses forward. Two minutes left in the fight. Neither fighter is the aggressor and both men appear exhausted. Miller misses a wild looping right hand. Miller hits with a solid jab that stops another wild right from Palhares. Miller glances up at the clock. Palhares lands a left hook but Miller remains standing. The final horn sounds and both fighters hug in the center of the cage.
