It wasn't the most dazzling exhibition of fisticuffs, but it was a hard fought bout between two pro-level fighters when Raphael Assuncao slipped past a game Johnny Eduardo. Eduardo had the edge standing but Assuncao kept forcing the fight to the ground and dominated from there.
All three judges ruled all three rounds for the stocky Assuncao. The shorter fighter, he disrupted Eduardo's range at all times and kept taking the fight to the ground. From there Assuncao dominated position, aggressively working for submissions and ground and pound throughout the fight.
Assuncao dominated from bell-to-bell but Eduardo had his moments and clearly was the more dangerous striker, but he couldn't keep the fight on the feet long enough to score with effective damage on the bulldog Assuncao. Assuncao got the fight down in all three rounds and dominated position from there.
