Erick Silva Blasts Off, Luis Ramos Is The Launch Pad At UFC 134

Erick Silva represented Team Nogueira well tonight at UFC 134 from Rio de Janeiro. He knocked out Luis Ramos with a crushing overhand right. Then Silva followed him down and a couple of crushing fists to the head of the grounded foe finished it off.

UFC 134 results: Erick Silva defeats Luis Ramos via TKO at :40 of Round 1

Ramos took his UFC debut on short notice after Mike Swick dropped out of the fight a few weeks ago.

Silva trains with UFC champion Anderson Silva, former champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his legendary twin brother Antonio Rogerio Noguiera. He improves to 13-1 and 1-0 in the UFC. Silva will be a fighter to watch in the UFC's crowded welterweight division.

If he can consistently beat wrestlers, Silva will do well in that stacked but somewhat mono-cultural division. His blend of Muay Thai striking and jiu-jitsu acumen could be an effective antidote to the deluge of ground and pound in the UFC's 170lb class.
