The second fight of the night of the television broadcast of UFC on Versus 5 was Donald Cerrone vs. Charles Oliveira. This was a lightweight fight, meaning 155 pounds. The referee in charge of the action was Mario Yamasaki.
It was domination in every facet of the game. Not just the game, but from size as well. Size was ultimately not what made the difference in the final sequence, but yet another reminder Oliveira would be better served at featherweight.
Cerrone was able to avoid any attempt at a ground attack, but it was the standing that made the difference. The variety of the attack from Cerrone gave Oliverira fits. So did the forward pressure 'Cowboy' applied. And to drive it home, Cerrone's striking power absolutely bucked Oliveira. The power was accentuated by Oliveira's desperation in the clinch, leaving wide open opportunities for Cerrone to smash him. And that's precisely what Cowboy did. Hats off to the Greg Jackson product for his ruthlessness and excellent win.
