According to a series of tweets from MMA reporter Mike Straka, well-known MMA coach Shawn Tompkins has passed away at the age of 37.
Straka tweeted:
Guys, it is with great sadness that I report the passing of our great friend & trainer Shawn Tompkins. Details developing. Autopsy pending.
And followed up:
Details are pending Shawn was in Ca with the team. That's all right now. I spoke with Emilie Tompkins and Sam Stout.

Tompkins coached UFC fighters Sam Stout and Mark Hominick and Bellator fighter Chris Horodecki. He had also coached Goran Reljic, Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva. He has also fought in UCC, a Canadian MMA organization now known as TKO Major League MMA. He owns a professional record of 0-4.
He was a coach of the Los Angeles Anacondas of the IFL. He partnered with Randy Couture at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas from 2007 to 2009. At the time of his passing he was an instructor at the Team TapouT Training Center.
