With British fan-favorite Dan Hardy set to make his promotional last stand at ‘UFC on Versus 5' this weekend, it seemed unlikely that his fellow countrymen would be able to lend their support as no live broadcast was scheduled for the U.K.. That has now changed, as Premier Sports TV channel 433 stepped in and struck a last second deal with the UFC to air the event live throughout the region.
The trouble originally began as officials for premium-cable channel ESPN UK -- the UFC's usual British affiliate -- announced they wouldn't be able to carry the event due to problems negotiating the rights with Versus. As a result, the UFC intended to stream the entire card to U.K. audiences through their free channel on UFC.tv.
Now that the matter has been resolved, the UFC.tv stream will still be available to any overseas fans that are unable to view Premier Sports TV channel 433. Streaming for the main event begins live Monday morning at 2:00 a.m. local U.K. time.
UFC on Versus 5 will be held Sunday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The main card features a bout between British striker Dan Hardy and American veteran Chris Lytle, and will be broadcast live on Versus for U.S. viewers. As always, the entire undercard will be available to be streamed live on Facebook.
