Just days after adding Ryan Couture to the card, Strikeforce officials have announced another bout to headline Strikeforce Challengers 19. According to a press release sent to MMA Nation, light heavyweight up-and-comers Lorenz Larkin (11-0) and Virgil Zwicker (10-2) will clash at the September event.
A highly touted prospect out of Riverside, California, Larkin is undefeated in his combat sports career -- possessing a 5-0 amateur boxing record, 10-0 amateur MMA record, and 11-0 professional MMA record. Known as "The Monsoon", the 24-year-old is renown for his finishing ability, having stopped eight of his eleven opponents before the final bell, including six in the first round. Larkin made his promotional debut at Strikeforce Challengers 15, defeating Scott Lighty by technical knockout midway through the second round.
Zwicker is a fellow Californian who made his fighting debut on a day's notice -- without any training or experience -- just weeks after being released from incarceration. Since then the 29-year-old has racked up an impressive 10-2 record, finishing all but one of the victories. He last fought at "Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley," defeating Brett Albee via strikes just minutes into the first round.
Strikeforce Challengers 19 will be held September 23rd at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada and broadcast live on Showtime. No main event has been announced.
