UFC 143: Georges St. Pierre Out With Blown ACL, Diaz Vs. Condit For Interim Title

UFC President Dana White tweeted that welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has injured his ACL and will be out for 10 months. Nick Diaz will face Carlos Condit for the interim title at UFC 143 in Las Vegas in February, 2012.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has suffered a blown ACL and will be out for 10 months. He'll be forced to miss his UFC 143 title bout with Nick Diaz on February 4, 2012 in Las Vegas. Ex-Strikeforce champ Diaz will instead face former WEC champ Carlos Condit for the interim title. UFC President Dana White tweeted the bad news only minutes ago:

GSP managed to disappoint both Diaz and Condit at UFC 137 when he suffered injuries that kept him out of a scheduled fight with Condit that had originally been promised to Diaz. Diaz fought B.J. Penn in a replacement headliner and Condit sat out the event.

This is yet another major pay-per-view to have its commercial prospects seriously damaged by the injury bug that has plagued the UFC for at least two years. More than half-a-dozen major money makers have been cancelled or delayed due to injuries, failed drug tests and bad behavior on the part of fighters in that span.
