I had the brief opportunity to talk to WBA and IBF light welterweight title holder Amir Khan yesterday at the workouts for this weekend's Khan vs. Peterson event. Khan confirmed after this fight is over and if he presumably gets by Lamont Peterson, this is his last fight at 140 pounds. "There are no more tests at this weight. We've proven that we're the best in this division. Hopefully, we can get past Lamont Peterson," Khan said.
Khan recently predicted Miguel Cotto would defeat Antonio Margarito in their rematch. When asked if Khan would be willing to face the rejuvenated Cotto at welterweight, the response was unequivocal. "Yeah, definitely," Khan replied. "I'd love to take that fight."
Khan vs. Peterson takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on December 10th. The fight will air on HBO.
