A featherweight contest between George Roop (12-8-1) and Cub Swanson (15-5) has been added to the card of UFC on Fox 2. UFC officials confirmed the match-up on Tuesday morning.
The bout is just another in a long line of tough opponents for Roop. The former TUF 8 cast member has rotated wins and losses since his initial release from the UFC, collecting a 2-3-1 record inside the WEC and a second stint in the Octagon while picking up losses to former champion Eddie Wineland, perennial contender Mark Hominick, and top-five ranked Hastu Hioki.
Swanson, a three time "Fight of the Night" winner in the WEC, will take his second shot at earning UFC glory. The longtime WEC veteran fell to a second-round arm-triangle choke from Ricardo Lamas at November's UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos card.
UFC on Fox 2 is slated for January 28, 2012 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. A pair of number-one contender headline the night, with Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis and Mark Munoz vs. Chael Sonnen scheduled for network broadcast.
