Last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar wasn't just badly beaten by former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem. He was beaten, quite literally, into retirement. Lesnar attempted one takedown attempt - a single leg takedown - which he quickly abandoned when it wasn't automatically available. From there, the K-1 champion in Overeem was able to use a devastating mix of knees and a fight ending liver kick to put the former NCAA Division I national champion away.
ESPN has kindly offered some highlights of the bout, which can be viewed below:
Deadspin also has some footage of Lesnar's retirement. In the co-main event of UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem, UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz put on quite the performance, although it was Cerrone who took the major beating of the evening. Diaz won a unanimous decision. Highlights for Diaz vs. Cerrone:
