Following the abrupt conclusion of UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem on Friday night, UFC President Dana White announced the show's live gate and attendance from Las Vegas, Nevada. According to White, 12,158 spectators lined the MGM Grand Garden Arena, attracting a live gate of $3.1 million.
Fans in attendance were witness to the unforgiving end of Brock Lesnar's fight career. The former UFC heavyweight champion lasted just two-and-a-half minutes before dropping from a brutal Alistair Overeem liver kick in the night's main event. Afterward a humbled Lesnar announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
"I've had a rough couple of years with my disease," Lesnar said. "This will be the last time you will see me in the Octagon.
"I want to thank everybody. I want to thank the Fertittas, Dana White. Brock Lesnar is officially retired."
