The HBO PPV broadcast for Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito got underway with Mike Jones facing the biggest test of his career in Sebastian Lujan. Lujan, a pressure fighter, was looking to force the taller, more athletic Jones to fight an uncomfortable fight.

That pace continued into the second round with Jones landing a very hard left hand and then a right hand uppercut that hurt Lujan. Lujan was the one fighting off the ropes, and getting ripped up by Jones. It was a clear 20-18 lead for Jones aftter two rounds and unless Lujan could figure out a way to turn it around.

The third round was Lujan's best of the fight as he was able to pressure and land a good amount of punches. Jones was able to make adjustments in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds that allowed him to bust up Lujan on the way in with regularity.

Lujan wasn't looking to go anywhere as he continued to walk forward and occasionally land punches but Jones simply outlanded him.

Jones' power decreased in the later rounds while he still tried to flurry and Lujan closed out the fight being but he still clearly won a comfortable decision.

MMA Nation scored the fight 119-109 for Jones after twelve rounds.

The official scorecards read: 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109 as Jones won a comfortable unanimous decision.
