Brandon Rios missed weight Friday evening for his bout with John Murray on the undercard of the HBO PPV broadcast for Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito. Rios checked in at 136.6 pounds for the lightweight (135) title bout. As part of the deal to save the fight, Rios had to pay Murray $20,000 out of his purse and agree that he would weigh in again this morning at 9 a.m. and could weigh no more than 147 pounds.
Word is now coming out that Rios made the weight and the fight will go ahead as planned:
As I wrote in my preview of this fight last night, Rios missing weight changed this fight completely. Rios is likely to not be his usual pressure fighting whirlwind of violence in the ring. He looked very bad at the weigh-in and wasn't allowed to rehydrate as normal because of today's second weigh-in.
We'll see how the fight actually goes later this evening.
