Planning for the UFC's debut visit to Sweden is finally underway.
According to reports from Heavy.com, the promotion is targeting April 14th, 2012 at Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Arena for the tentatively titled event, UFC on Fuel TV 2. UFC officials have yet to make a formal announcement, but have frequently discussed plans for a Swedish show throughout the past several years.
In addition, the event's fight card has its first match-up, as welterweights DaMarques Johnson and John Maguire have agreed to meet, according to reports.
A runner-up of The Ultimate Fighter 9, Johnson (15-9) has fought to mixed results thus far in his UFC career. The 29-year-old blitzed through two bonus winning finishes over Edgar Garcia and Brad Blackburn following the show's finale, but has since struggled to a 2-2 record with second-round losses to Matt Riddle and Amir Sadollah. "Darkness" last appeared on the UFC on Fox 1 undercard, where he steamrolled through Clay Harvison in 94 seconds.
Meanwhile, former Cage Rage UK champion Maguire (17-3) recently capped a six-fight win streak with a unanimous decision victory over Justin Edwards in his UFC debut. A 28-year-old product out of Tsunami Gym, "The One" has nine submission finishes to his credit, with six coming inside the first round.
