Undefeated Strikeforce veteran Shane del Rosario has joined the UFC heavyweight ranks. The fighter's management, Iridium Sports, tweeted the news this week. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
UFC officials have yet to announce a debut date or opponent for their newest signing.
A former WBC Muay Thai world heavyweight champion, del Rosario (11-0) has successfully transferred his formidable striking pedigree to mixed martial arts since debuting in 2006. The 28-year-old has finished all 11 of his opponents thus far in his career, with an astounding 10 contests ending in the first round.
Del Rosario last fought under the Strikeforce banner, where he racked up a 3-0 record with victories over Brandon Cash, Lolohea Mahe, and fellow UFC signee Lavar Johnson. "No Limits" was then scheduled to face Daniel Cormier in June for a reserve spot in Strikeforce's World Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament, but the opportunity closed when a drunk driver in Newport Beach rear-ended his car, resulting in a myriad of injuries and protracted recovery process.
