Two additional bouts have been confirmed for the fight card of Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine. According to promotion officials, welterweights Nah-Shon Burrell vs. James Terry and light heavyweights Trevor Smith vs. Gian Villante will square off at the January 7th show.
The 21-year-old Burrell (7-1) has quickly emerged as a name to watch after notching four decisive victories in 2011, capped by a second-round TKO of Lukasz Les at Strikeforce Challengers 18. He looks to take on Terry (11-3), a 30-year-old veteran who rebounded from a loss to Carlos Fodor with a furious first-round knockout of Magno Almeida in September.
Likewise, Smith (9-1) hopes to capitalize on an equally impressive 2011 that has seen the submission ace snatch four straight wins, three of which ended in the first round. He'll face Villante (8-3), a former NFL prospect and heavyweight up-and-comer who has fallen on hard times of late. After losing three of four contests, the 26-year-old finally re-righted the ship against Keith Barry in August.
Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine is slated for January 7th, 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Luke Rockhold defends his Strikeforce middleweight title against Keith Jardine in the night's main event.
