A trio of bouts have been added to the UFC's debut on FX. Promotion officials announced the match-ups on Tuesday afternoon.
Former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown (25-8) hopes to return to title contention as he squares off against submission ace Vagner Rocha (7-2). Brown last fought at UFC 133, where he erased a two-fight slump with a tough win over Nam Phan. Across the cage, Rocha makes his featherweight debut after stopping Cody McKenzie via second-round rear-naked choke in September.
Also on the docket, longtime UFC veterans Jorge Rivera (18-9) and Eric Schafer (12-6-2) clash to maintain relevance in an increasingly deep middleweight division. The 39-year-old Rivera currently sits on the first losing streak of his career after dropping consecutive bouts against Michael Bisping and Constantinos Philippou. Likewise, the 34-year-old Schafer has dropped three of his past four contests, including a unanimous decision loss to Aaron Simpson at UFC 136.
Lastly, MFC light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo (16-1) has agreed to vacant his title and debut in the Octagon against Czech wrestling standout Karlos Vemola (8-2). Jimmo, a TUF 8 hopeful who failed to make past the elimination round, has rallied off sixteen straight victories since losing his first professional fight. Meanwhile, Vemola hopes to maintain his status in the UFC after falling on the wrong side of decisions in two of his first three contests.
UFC on FX takes place on January 20, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. Explosive lightweight contender Melvin Guillard duels former number-one contender Jim Miller in the night's main event.
