Official weigh-ins for UFC 139 were held at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and streamed live on MMA Nation. All main card fighters made weight, including light heavyweight headliners Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (205) and Dan Henderson (203). Afterward, Henderson expressed pleasure at the opportunity to finally compete with a hometown advantage. "I feel great. It's very nice to be back in the UFC," he declared. "This my first time fighting in my homestate of California. Born and raised."
Rua appeared equally excited for the match-up. "I'm very happy for this fight," the Brazilian stated. "I fight for the best."
Though the weigh-ins kicked off to an inauspicious start, as a trio of undercard fighters failed to make weight on their first attempt. Shamar Bailey (158), Miguel Torres (137), and Nick Pace (141) all tipped in far above their contracted weight, leading ringside announcer Joe Rogan and a CSAC official to announce a discrepancy between the official scale and the backstage scale the fighters prepared on. Regardless, Bailey and Pace have agreed to forfeit 20-percent of their purse. Torres has one hour to loss the additional pound.
UPDATE: Torres successfully weighed-in at 136 pounds on his third attempt.
