Saturday's UFC on Fox broadcast has been met with near-universal praise in almost every facet except one -- the one-hour, one-fight runtime. Luckily, it seems UFC officials have already taken notice of the criticism and will seek to rectify it for their sophomore effort.
On Monday's episode of The MMA Hour, UFC ringside commentator Mike Goldberg revealed plans are already in motion for an extended broadcast of UFC on Fox 2. Ariel Helwani had the details.
While many were expecting a longer runtime for the UFC's next network foray, a 250-percent increase wasn't the most likely conclusion to jump to. A two-and-a-half hour broadcast could feasibly serve in the same function as a pay-per-view, with at least five aired bouts -- plus notable undercard action -- depending on the amount of filler content the production team is looking to maintain.
Still, should Goldberg prove to be correct, it just shows the faith Fox has in the UFC-product.
