Just hours before the UFC's anticipated debut on Fox, the California State Athletic Commission has announced the trio of judges assigned to the night's main event. Judges Nelson "Doc" Hamilton, Abe Belardo, and Lester Griffin will oversee the UFC heavyweight championship between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, according to reports from MMA Junkie. All three are veterans of California and Nevada.
Hamilton is the most experienced of the group, having judged over 182 total bouts, according to MMADecisions.com. 15 of those have come this year, including a trio of title fights from UFC 129 and UFC 136.
Belardo is the second most-experienced of the group with 61 decisions rendered in his career. Though his latest outing came under fire after calling a split decision and a draw in succession at April's Strikeforce event.
Griffin is the least experienced with 54 contests to his claim. He has also embedded himself in slight controversy, having judged two split decisions at UFC events in 2011.
UFC on Fox will be held tonight at the Anaheim, California's Honda Center. The main event begins at 9:00 p.m. live on Fox and Fox Deportes.
