UFC 136 Results: Chael Sonnen Submits Brian Stann To Make Himself Top Contender To Anderson Silva

The third fight of the night of the pay-per-view broadcast is Brian Stann vs. Chael Sonnen. This is the featured bout of the evening. It's also a middleweight fight, meaning 185 pounds. The referee in charge of the action is Kerry Hatley.

ROUND 1 - Sonnen dives into Stann right away and presses him into the cage. Stann reverses and drives hard punches into Sonnen's ribs. Sonnen now pressing Stann into the fence. Stann attempts a trip and gets it, right into side control. Sonnen attempts a crucifix, but goes nowhere. Sonnen then attempts mount, but that, too, goes nowhere. Stann tries to sit out, but Sonnen gets Stann's back. Sonnen briefly takes mount before retaking Stann's back. Now Stann back to half guard. Sonnen on top now just pounding on Stann.

ROUND 2 - Sonnen immediately drives Stann to his back. Stann now moves to mount and Stann looks totally hopeless. Stann recaptures guard, but the referee stands them up. Huge right hand from Stann lands on the mark. Stann double leg SLAMS Brian Stann to the mat. Now Sonnen has the head and arm triangle. Stann looks like he's in trouble. That's it. Sonnen gets the tap.
