Following the UFC 136 pre-fight press conference, Dana White spoke with members of the press on the topic of the potential number one contender match between B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz at UFC 137.
The UFC President stated there were no plans for giving Penn another shot at current UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. "This is one of those situations where we were talking about if Chael [Sonnen] or [Brian] Stann should win, this is different. I don't know how many people are clamoring to see B.J. versus GSP again. But if Nick [Daiz] should win [against Penn at UFC 137], I think that's a fight that people want to see."
White continued to discuss his relationship with Diaz and why a second go-round with the former Strikeforce welterweight champion as a UFC main eventer is possible. "I think we got over the hurdles here and we can try to figure this thing out and get this thing going," said White. "He can show up and be Gray Maynard at the press conference. I think Maynard said four words to ten questions today."
