After the UFC 136 pre-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White spoke with members of the press about the Dan Henderson fight with Mauricio Rua at UFC 139.
White stated there was a potential that Henderson could be fighting for a title shot should he emerge victorious over 'Shogun'. White told the press Henderson could have been fighting for a shot at Anderson Silva's middleweight crown were the champion not injured and that it would be tough to say he wasn't deserving of the bout given his record in Strikeforce.
"If Anderson was able to fight, I'd probably do him and Dan Henderson," said White today in Houston, Texas. "Should Dan win, he's definitely one of the guys that could take that fight. It'll be tough to say that Henderson isn't the number one contender. God willing everything goes our way and he can come out of that fight with Shogun if he wins, not injured and we'll see what happens."
