Eighteen years ago, ad exec Art Davie was one of the leading creative lights behind the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Davie, working closely with Rorion Gracie, convinced Semaphore Entertainment Group to take a chance on a novel martial arts tournament. The rest, as they say, is history. Davie will be remembered as one of the creators of a brand new sport, a fairly unique achievement.
Few know he's actually the creator of two cutting edge sports. XArm, full contact arm wrestling, debuted in 2008. And sure, it didn't receive the same acclaim ultimate fighting did years earlier. But how often are geniuses appreciated in their lifetime?
Davie and XArm are getting a second chance to light the world on fire. And really, it's something that has to be seen to be believed. The athletes, connected at the fist by duct tape, pound the crap out of each other while simultaneously arm wrestling.
Amazingly, I'm not the only one who thinks this is a great idea. Endomol USA, the production company behind Fear Factor and Wipeout is on board and looking to sell the next great sport to the world. I'm on board. You in?
