VIDEO: Eric Prindle Smashes Ron Sparks In 40 Seconds At Bellator 56

New, 1 comment

While Nick Diaz was busy sending B.J. Penn into a brutal retirement, Bellator Fighting Championships were preoccupied staging their own unique brand of violence. A pair of thunderous heavyweight battles highlighted Saturday's action at Bellator 56.

Without question the knockout of the night belonged to Eric Prindle. It took just 40 seconds for the former U.S. Army boxing champion to crush the previously undefeated Ron Sparks, as Prindle landed a picture-perfect counter left hook that floored his opponent and paved his way to the season-five tournament finals. The win -- Prindle's seventh straight -- sets up a duel against Brazilian prospect Thiago Santos at Bellator 59 for the $100,000 grand prize and a guaranteed title shot against heavyweight champion Cole Konrad.

Bellator 56 was held on October 29th at Kansas City's Kansas Memorial Hall. In the night's main event, Ben Askren defended his welterweight title by earning a tough split decision over UFC veteran Jay Hieron. For complete Bellator 56 coverage and results, check MMA Nation's Bellator 56 StoryStream.
