UFC 137 should go a long way to easing Nick Diaz's monetary complaints. According to figures obtained by MMA Nation, the brash former Strikeforce welterweight champion pocketed $200,000 for his main event victory over B.J. Penn ($150,00) on Saturday night.
Co-headlining heavyweight Cheick Kongo was the night's other big earner. The massive Frenchman left with a $140,000 payday for his decision victory over Matt Mitrione ($10,000).
Former heavyweight contender Brandon Vera led the undercard charge, pocketing $120,000 after defeating "The Ultimate Fighter" veteran Eliot Marshall ($15,000) on the UFC 137 Facebook preliminaries. The win returned Vera's name to the win column for the first time since mid-2009.
UFC 137 was held on October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roy Nelson ($40,000) vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic ($75,000), Scott Jorgensen ($33,000) vs. Jeff Curran ($8,000), and Hastu Hioki ($30,000) vs. George Roop ($8,000) rounded out the main card.
