A welterweight bout between Dong Hyum Kim (14-1-1) and Sean Pierson (11-4) has been added to the card of UFC 141. UFC officials announced the news early Monday afternoon.
"Two talented welterweights on the comeback trail will face off at UFC 141 when Sean Pierson takes on the 'Stun Gun,' Dong Hyun Kim," said UFC president Dana White.
Kim looks to rebound from the first loss of his professional career -- a brutal three minute collapse against Carlos Condit at UFC 132. Prior to the setback, the 29-year-old South Korean had won five of six UFC appearances, including victories over Nate Diaz and Amir Sadollah, with the lone outlier being a no contest against Karo Parisyan in 2009.
Meanwhile, Pierson aims to bounce back from his own Octagon setback, having fought at UFC 129 where he fell just minutes into a bout against Jake Ellenberger. The loss snapped the Canadian's six-fight win streak that stretched back to 2008, and included triumphs over Matt Riddle and Fabio Holanda.
UFC 141 is scheduled for December 30th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining is the event is a titanic heavyweight clash between former champions Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.
